Thank you for the evaluation

All of us have done the micro teaching. It is very interesting when peer can evaluate each other in order to get the feedback of how one’s teaching (simulated). Most of peer that evaluates me during my micro teaching gives a full commitment in writing a comment. By looking at their comment, no matter it is condemn or advice, I feel very glad that they write a comments in a sentences not a single words like good, OK, nice and great. Thanks guys for the evaluation and comments. It really means a lot to me. The evaluation form will be my guide and morale booster to perform well in semester to come.

Most of our friend did their micro teaching using the Oedipus drama as a material for their micro teaching. Obviously Oedipus is one of a favorite drama in our class. I like Oedipus very much. But bear in mind that we will become a teacher soon. We should dare to use the drama like A Streetcar Named Desire or any others drama. Trying to improve is not wasting your life. Anyway, I feel very proud to be part of this class as I have so many friends that very smart, confidence and willing to share their ideas. Anyway, sharing is caring.

I Like a Streetcar Named Desire

In drama Streetcar named Desire by Tennessee William, I found that loneliness is one of the issues that make me get into the drama. Speaking about loneliness, the most suitable character for me to refer to in this drama is Blanche. As we can see along the journey of the drama, Blanche is the reversal fortune or the tragic character that always face the cold of loneliness. Please, I hope somebody out there has no sister like Stella. Most of people have no idea how suffer someone who being in loneliness. As a human being, we need to interact to each others. Our mind are thinking very fast until there is a time when we have done something hasty, reckless, stupid and in the end, regrets.

Who is Cleopatra?

For your information, Cleopatra is the last descendant of Iskandar Dzulkarnain (not a stupid gay, mother lover Alexander please). The great king that ever known. So do not believe what the love maniac person like William Shakespeare who create and change the story according to his imagination and inspiration. I HATE the Antony and Cleopatra very much. It is rather nonsense and too sensitive to certain people.

Bloody, violence and gore…..oh Macbeth.

Frankly speaking, I miss a lot on the movie that I should watch in drama class activity. I am really sorry Sir (this refers to my respected lecture Assoc. Prof Malachi Edwin). I did watch several movies like Macbeth, As You Like It and Shakespeare Wallah. The most interesting movie among these three is Macbeth. First of all, it has nice costumes. I like the costume very much especially wore by Macbeth’s wife. The paladins and the knights’ armor look so for real. Its really looks heavy to wear it. I know some of you may say that this film is rather nonsense, violence and gore. Look into the bright side; they are very good in doing their role as an actor and actress. These are the example that we should watch and learn; a good acting. Seriously, I am addicted to this movie.

Oedipus Rex and Social Sickness.

I believes almost all members of drama class that I take now likes Oedipus Rex play very much. Oedipus Rex that written by famous ancient Greek playwrite; Sophocles is one of the best storyline I ever read. Lately, my friend and I always keep talking about this drama. I gave my personal opinion; what Sophocles had done with the incident in this drama might happen for real during those times. The incident that I mention here is the incident where people was having sex and married with his or her own blood relatives including parents. Maybe the characters are not Oedipus Rex, Laios and others but society. I called this social sickness. Here’s are the example of the story that happened in almost the same story with Oedipus Rex play; Alexander with his mother. Not to forget Rom king; Caesar with his sister. All of these examples are related to forbidden adultery or ‘social sickness’ I should called. This social sickness is even happen in this modernity era. No examples and prove can be provided for the modernity era of social sickness’ incident but we all know it did happened.

Spynx Riddle

I asked my roommate, about the Spynx riddle in Oedipus Rex play. “What goes on four legs in the morning, two at noon and three at evening?” He has no idea what is the answer for this riddle. Suddenly, one of my friend who also never heard this riddle before came into my room and I asked him the answer for this riddle. About 2 second, he gave me the correct answer; Human. My roommate is from Bachelor of Computer Science and friend of mine who gave the correct answer is from Bachelor of Education. So, there is a contrast between them. There is a reason why Bachelor of Education can answer the riddle. For me education is close to social and life while computer science is close to logic, fact and figure only. For me the most correct answer for the Spynx riddle will be human life-cycle. The answer is really related to education. This is the reason why my roommate can’t solve the riddle. Is it so? I hope somebody out there can give a response to the statement that I give above.

Evaluation

Oh my dearest respected course mates….would you please be serious in evaluating others. Some of you look not interested at all in helping your own course mates. Remember that what goes around comes around. Just take the evaluation form and write down something, they need your comments either positive or negative and if you want to condemn, better look back at yourself. Some of us did not take part as students when your friends did their micro teaching. I know some of you guys are been busy doing your assignment and others work. That’s not a good excuse. Watch your friends doing their micro teaching, take part as students and do comments.
You will be treated the same way too.

My Play

If I were given the opportunity to be actor in Ancient Greek play, the things that I should consider in my play is:

1. Costume

Costume is one of the important elements in drama/play. As we all know that play or drama that I mention here is on the stage, not like television or movie. So, costume plays an important role to ensure that my audience feels entertained and my play is worth-to-watch. The costume for me, should not be been influenced by any other culture or fashion. I believe the costume should be exactly like the way it’s supposed to be. For instant, if ancient Greek costumes are use a lot of linen and has lack of accessory, so I do not want any additional on the costume.

2. Stage

Stage should be more for real according to scene and part because stage is the tool for audience to get the clear picture about the play that they are watch; when the drama is takes place, the signal of change and the situation of the play. ‘For real’ here does not mean the stage should exactly have a real building on stage. Stage should be arranged accordingly. For instant, if the play’s setting is at Mount Olympus, it is enough to only put God’s throne and cloudy wallpaper as a background. Creative is needed here to enchant the stage. Simple stage will not affect the flow of the play (it won’t take time to change for the next setting of play)

My Drama Class

I am taking minor in literature. This semester, I take a course named ‘Teaching the Language of Drama’. The aim of this course is to enable to student to introduce students to the elements of drama, analyze and teach plays from various literary traditions. When speaking about drama, the first thing that cross my mind is memorizes the script. I always wanted to be part of the drama. I love the art of the drama very much. But I don’t have any knowledge and experience about drama. I believe by studying this course, I will get the knowledge that I need to participate the drama if I were given the chance to be part of the drama project in the future. The thing I like the most about this class is lecturer will read the drama script for us during the class session. This will make me learn more on how to perform on stage with the right intonation and voice projection.
